Now, in addition to web and Java thin client access, Apple Mac users can achieve full IP connectivity with the new Virtual Passage client for MacOS X. Virtual Passage for Mac consists of a one-time file download and a Java connector that initiates SSL VPN connections. * Virtual Passage support for Windows 2003 Server * New SSL VPN status information for the web management interface Status page. The status page now includes graphs showing the last six hours of inbound and outbound bandwidth usage and number of users. In addition, two dashboard dials show system memory and CPU utilization. * A list of active users and administrators are shown in a new log page. An administrator can terminate an active user session and log the user out from the active user log page. * New customizable portal Home Page with VPN links and custom text and HTML content. Administrators can add instructions, technical support contact info, VPN news, and other dynamic content on a 'home page'. Bookmarks to network resources may also be displayed. The home page is ideally suited for restricted users that only need access to specific resources and are not allowed to browse the network. * Add Bookmark, Import self-signed certificate and Online Help links may all be hidden in SSL VPN portal. Besides enabling or disabling individual pages, network administrators can customize almost all aspects of the SSL VPN portal. * Role-based administration enabling multiple administrators to be defined and managed. Now, multiple administrators can be created, policies can be applied to administrators, and the default administrator 'admin' can be deleted. * Policy and bookmark support for users authenticating to external AAA servers, such as Active Directory, LDAP and RADIUS. Previously, policies and bookmarks could only be configured at the global level for these users. In addition, policies can be configured at the group level for Active Directory and LDAP. * Terminal services applications can now be pre-configured for a specific Windows Terminal Server. Administrators can optionally define an IP address or name for Terminal Services applications, such as Excel, Word, etc, that are shown on the SSL VPN portal Applications page. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolved Caveats ----------------------------------------------------------------------- AccessPoint 1.2.2 Resolutions: * Inactivity Timeout fix for Virtual Passage; now the inactivity timeout for Virtual Passage is set in minutes rather than seconds. Timeout settings for HTML and Java applets are unaffected. * HTTP debug logging disabled to prevent Virtual Passage tunnels from closing. Previously, when the httpd.log file was rotated, Virtual Passage connections could be closed and users would need to click 'Connect' to re-establish the SSL VPN tunnel connection. * Virtual Passage memory leak issue fixed. Previously, under heavy loads over an extended period of time, Virtual Passage could close the SSL VPN tunnel or overload the kernel network driver buffer. This issue has been fixed. * Virtual Passage Client Routes - Client routes now installed as local routes rather than remote routes. This provides support for routes with supernet and subnet masks. Previously, only standard Class A, B and C network masks were supported for client routes. * Import of license key through the web management interface issue fixed. * Detection and removal of non-alphanumeric characters for portal layout fields and Network Resources name. Previously, when characters such as &*@#$ were entered, AccessPoint would not store or accept new configuration information. * Fields such as Inactivity Timeout can be reset back to default/no setting. * WINS is no longer enabled by default for network file sharing. Because WINS was enabled by default, Windows file sharing performance would be very slow if WINS servers were not configured. Now, WINS is only enabled after one or more WINS servers are defined. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical Support ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Menlo Logic offers phone and email support to customers with valid support contracts or customers evaluating the AccessPoint software.
